Let us talk about something else in this new thread, how about strategy?  Talk about great strategies around the world by famous men and women, like Genghis Khan, Zhuge Liang, or Napoleon, or anyone else you can think of. Or if you have an opinion about one of the battles fought around the world, talk about it in here too (such as how you think this side should fight to achieve victory) |

Let me be the first to talk.
Does any of you know why Mongol Horde is almost invincible?
It is because of their speed, which can still be counted as fast, even in this era. Also they are also the most disciplined forces in that time, which no Asian nor European countries can match. Another is their way of thinking of not seeking honour, but to seek victory.
Now, here's one for you.
If you are one of the ruler in Europe, how will you fight the Mongol Horde?

If I'm the European, I will strengeten my archery and canon, but the most important is this, I will ask my subordinate to disguise as me and invite or mongol king and lord to attend a meeting and I will declare I would giving all my land to mongol. before the party start my KAMIKAZE DISGUISE KING will take out his bomb behind his robe and light it out with the candle in front of his table.. let's see which ruler i am in europe... there are many kinds of them... with the most famous one is rome legionaries.... or other is barbarians.
If i am a Rome legionaries.. i face them head on with a lot of heavy infantry and archer support n i think some element of surprise with cavalry charge from behind the enemy main troop could lower their spirit... if it is barbarian, i think their position is quite equal because of their desire for wars.... facing them head on is also a way... or laying an ambush in forest area is even better....

but archer quite weak againts calvary coz archers are weak in close combat. so if they r near the archer sure die. So i suggest use pike, lance, halbadier man to guard them is btr

i think the leadership oso important leh. if ur commander dunno how 2 use tactic n take advantage using strategy u'll lose altough u got large trops

Fire Arrow plus some pikemen in front to protect the unit and of course we can send spy to mongol troop and put poison to their F & B... MINE IS THE BEST

As i know mongol hordes are almost all militia and barbarian, so the best way to cease their attack is using artillery or fire attack (massive attack or destruction e.g using cannon) so b4 even reach our place when they are charging, they will be dead meat  And then some of them are guerrilla troops, we have to use the pikeman in troops (cant separate as it will cause the guerrilla to easily kill them if there are only one or few soldiers) |

i would prefer to put some traps and use fire arrows over them to put off their spirit. then use phalanxes to stand the ground.. and then put a heavy armored horse on the flank to prepare a flank attack and also protect the phalanx from flank and guerilla attack.. light armored horse will be set at the back to clean up the runaway mongol troops... hehe...

Mongol was a tough country u know? All we need to do is to decrease their morale by attacking their vulnerables. Such as their lowly defense and their poor weapon #evileye#
